Madam, – One has to wonder whether the senior Irish Army officer, bedecked with medals and shown in a photograph holding an umbrella over President McAleese (Home News, April 5th), could be given some task less menial and more suited to his rank?
Queen Elizabeth II, a much older lady who will be visiting the President later this year, can be seen publicly, from time to time, on social occasions, using her own umbrella. – Yours, etc,
