Madam, - As an aid and development worker with eight years' experience in Africa I must add my voice to that of John O'Shea of Goal in protesting at the manner in which ¬814 million was spent in 2006 on Official Development Assistance.
Never has so much been spent on overseas aid in Africa, yet the continent continues to slip further and further into poverty, ignorance and disease. The aid is not reaching those who need it most - the ordinary people in the towns and villages throughout the continent. There must be a better way. - Yours, etc,
MAGS RIORDAN, Kilfountain, Dingle, Co Kerry.
