Coming clean on diesel laundering

Sir, – I don’t get it

Sir, – I don’t get it. With potentially huge losses in Government revenue, and waste of Garda and other specialists’ resources, what is the point of continuing to use a dye to differentiate between two versions of the same fuel that can be laundered out so easily (“Gardaí arrest four men as massive diesel laundering plant uncovered”, Home News, September 2nd)?

Surely it must be possible to produce a dye which does the job? If not, then the scheme should be changed. For example, why not the same diesel (un-dyed) for everybody at the same price, but with special “money off” coupons available to those who are entitled to a price reduction? – Yours, etc,
