Clamping down with kindness

Madam, - Máiríde Woods (July 19th) expresses concern at a particular instance of car clamping

Madam, - Máiríde Woods (July 19th) expresses concern at a particular instance of car clamping. The reason this car was clamped was not because it was parked outside the designated parking bay, as her letter suggested, but in fact for displaying a photocopied disabled permit. When the enforcement team returned to declamp the car the owner explained that he had a valid permit and did not display the original copy as he was concerned the permit would be taken from his car. The clamp fee was subsequently refunded to the car owner. - Yours, etc,
