Sir, - Re Peigin Doyle's report on the anthropologist - Jennifer Johnson - with Duffy's Circus (April 30th) I am intrigued with how she made contact with John and Mabel Ringling in Florida; Mabel died in 1929 and John died in 1936. Either Jennifer wears her years well or Peigin Doyle is employing her journalistic licence!

It is only when you know the facts or background that you start doubting what appears in our papers. So if Jennifer "never planned to run away to the circus when she was a child", has she run away in her old age? - Yours, etc.,

Kilconnell, Co Galway.
