Sir, - The Irish Times account of Prof Enda McDonagh's lecture to the Irish Association on Friday April 23rd correctly reported him as saying that "the official links between the Protestant Churches and the Loyal [Orange"] Order should be broken."
Your reporter, however, failed to mention that at the end of his talk he stated that the existence of "official links" was a "perception" rather than a fact. For example, "chaplains" to the Orange Order are appointed by the order and not by the churches. - Yours, etc., R. E. Turner,
Stranmillis, Belfast.
