Madam, - In response to Mr Ó Cofaigh's query in relation to the energy efficiency of the Grafton Street Christmas lights I am happy to advise that the new lights are made up of 65,000 LED bulbs and use up to 75 per cent less energy than the previous displays.
The Christmas lights are selected and erected by the retailers of the street directly. We have been researching the new lights for almost two years and hope that the city's shoppers, workers and visitors will enjoy them, along with the city's magical atmosphere at Christmas time, with our compliments. - Yours, etc,
