Madam, – Having last weekend watched the arrival at the Park of Ministers attending the urgent financial crisis meeting which has our country in the throes of a death dance, it occurred to me that Ireland should look back at India and what that country went through after its independence.

Not one minister from prime downwards had any vehicle better than an ambassador (the late- 1940s Morris Oxford). This continued until the late 1990s.
