Bombing Of Iraq

Sir, - It is utterly sickening to watch the TV pictures of the results of the US bombing raids on Iraq

Sir, - It is utterly sickening to watch the TV pictures of the results of the US bombing raids on Iraq. These bombing raids and the embargo are quite simply obscene and morally indefensible. How can the world just stand by and watch the dreadful suffering of the poor people of Iraq? There is no justification whatsoever for the US or British involvement in these terrible bombing raids.

Might one ask, who monitors the weapons of mass destruction of the USA? Wasn't it the US that dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945? Wasn't it Britain that bombed the city of Dresden, killing countless numbers of human beings during World War Two? These are the people who adopt a high moral tone towards Iraq and insist on a "no fly zone".

It is clear that the US and Britain are the aggressor in this situation and it is painful beyond words to see the dreadful suffering of the poor people of Iraq. The US has the blood of innocent men, women and children on its hands. Can the so-called civilised world do nothing to stop this carnage and naked aggression? - Yours, etc., Anthony Redmond,
