Madam, - Huge quantities of crops are now being diverted to produce ethanol. This myopic policy is bound to lead not only to a shortage of food, but to an exorbitant rise in the price of basic nourishment.

Isn't there a fierce irony in the fact that in our mad rush to produce copious amounts of biofuels to maintain our unsustainable lifestyles, we are in serious danger of condemning those currently living on the margins to abject poverty, malnutrition, and quite possibly death? Yours,
