Sir,– I’d like to pay tribute to the Ballyhea campaigners near Charleville, Co Cork, who for the last five years have marched every week in protest against the imposition of European bank debt on the Irish people.
During that time they have travelled to the European Central Bank, met senior members of the troika and the governor of the Central Bank of Ireland (three times), had a petition accepted by the European Parliament, and much, much more.
As they close this phase of their campaign, coinciding with the election of the new Dáil, they now plan to focus their energies on building their campaign politically and in the media to achieve their second goal, righting the wrong.
These campaigners have acted with the highest integrity and deserve our respect and full support. – Yours, etc,
