Sir, – Having just applied for the so-called water conservation grant, I am at a loss to understand why a new section needs to be established within the Department of Social Welfare to add yet another meaningless level of bureaucracy to our lives. Clearly it would have been more efficient to simply credit every Irish Water account.
Most of the information being asked for is already held by Irish Water (except, curiously, our PPS numbers). There seems to be no credible reason given so far for another agency to duplicate this. – Yours, etc,
