Dick Keane (December 22nd), is correct about wind not blowing on demand, hence the beauty of the Spirit of Ireland proposal to harness wind farms to giant reservoirs on the west coast, thereby storing vast amounts of energy to be used at peak demand or when wind is slack.
I urge your readers to look at www.spiritofireland.org. If the people of Ireland are not familiar with this genuine green alternative they may well again be faced with the nuclear option when fossil fuels get scarce and expensive.
