Madam, - So, no condemnation by the Anglican primates at their Newry meeting of Mugabe and his supporter the Anglican bishop of Harare, in stark contrast to the courageous stand taken by the Roman Catholic archbishop in Zimbabwe.
Oppression of the innocent and powerless by a ruthless dictator in Zimbabwe appeared of less immediate concern to the primates than the threat of excommunication visited on a homosexual bishop and his diocese, especially by the African primates.
Perhaps if Mugabe had been an ardent supporter instead of a venomous opponent of homosexual rights, how different the reaction of the African primates might have been. - Yours, etc.,
Very Rev VICTOR G. GRIFFIN, Tyler Road, Limavady, Co Derry.
