Madam, – Paul Cullen’s piece on fluctuating birds numbers (March 28th) was on the whole unexpectedly good news.
It would, however, be tremendous news if the American blackbird (either Rusty or Brewer’s) depicted alongside our native species, were on the increase in Ireland or had even occurred here.
Still, the error made me oddly nostalgic for my life in North America. – Yours, etc,
