Sir, – A new memorial was unveiled in Herbert Park, Dublin to mark the 40th anniversary of the Trident Air Crash at Staines Middlesex. In that air crash on June 18th, 1972, 12 prominent Irish businessmen lost their lives. They were travelling to Brussels to prepare for Ireland’s entry into the European Economic Community. The memorial consists of a newly planted oak tree and a plaque on which the names of the Irish businessmen who lost their lives, are inscribed.
There are three new park seats with inscribed plaques at the memorial site, which is located close to the Bowling Greens.
We will remember them. – Yours, etc,
