Madam, – In praising those who still believe Denis O’Brien and Michael Lowry to be innocent of all wrongdoing, Bill Black (March 29th) raises the valid question, “Can you imagine the number of new schools and the jobs that could have been created with the €150 million spent to date?”.
To answer that, I’d say about one fifth of the amount of new schools and jobs that could have been created had the State sold the mobile licence in question at its true value. – Yours, etc,
Madam, – I nearly choked on my breakfast cereal when I read the sanctimonious remarks from Martin Ferris of Sinn Féin, when he called on Fine Gael to publish a “list” of corporate donations.
I don’t suppose he would reciprocate by telling us how many other shipments of weapons, his one time sponsor, Muammar Gadafy sent to the Provos to murder and maim people on these islands, or any other “donations” of a similar kind? – Yours, etc,
Madam, – Des O’Meara’s supposition (March 30th) that our judges are fallible and should be reminded of the fact regularly is a licence for anarchy. – Yours, etc,
