Sir, – Several years ago a letter I wrote to The Irish Timeswas published (I cannot recall the date – ages ago). In it I stated that I was going to write a book of some anecdotes about the brother. I invited your readers to send me anything they knew of, as I wanted to cast as wide a net as possible as I could hardly be a repository of all of them.
I got a great response and I picked out eight I could use. The book has now just been published; it is entitled The Brother (Myles).
Unfortunately, I have mislaid (old age) the full addresses of those who kindly sent me these anecdotes. The headings are as follows:-
1) “The Stolen Manuscript Recovered by the Garda”, submitted by John Kearney, Co Dublin.
2) “A Midnight Massive Hiccup”, submitted by Pauline Kelly, Waterford.
3) “The Sleeping Hospital Guest”, submitted by Eve White, Dublin.
4) “Myles’s Secret Marriage in Germany”, submitted by Hugh Scanlan, Co Dublin.
5) “A Letter in Jack O’Rourke’s Pub, Blackrock”, submitted by Noel Ryan, Co Dublin.
6) “Wheelbarrow Transport”, submitted by Eddie Cowan, Co Westmeath.
7) “Seamus Na Gopaleen Joyce”, submitted by Graham Shepard, Co Wicklow.
8) “Acciss”, submitted by Peter Maguire, Co Wexford.
Please send me your name and your full address to the address given below, and I will send a copy of the book, the least I might do. – Yours, etc,
