There is absolutely no business case to be made for this allowance and, as it is tax free, will return twice the saving to the exchequer. Other allowances to be immediately eliminated should include those for attending the Dáil daily, chairing committees, laundry, mobile phone updates, free envelopes and free phone calls in the Dáil.
