Sir, – On a recent holiday to the small Portuguese island of Madeira over 300 miles off the west coast of Africa, I purchased a tube of 150g of Voltarol Emulgel (for arthritic pain). The cost was €9.50. My local chemist charges €8.95 for a 30g of the same gel. The usual justification for exorbitant prices in Ireland is that we are a small island on the edge of Europe and all that entails.
Is this a record ripoff? – Yours, etc,
