Secondary teachers in primary schools

Parity of esteem?

Sir, – It is time that the Department of Education acknowledged the contribution of secondary teachers in primary schools. We fill in substitute and fixed-term positions where primary teachers have emigrated. We should receive increments and allowances which primary teachers receive and which secondary teachers working in primary are denied. If we worked in special schools and secondary schools, we would qualify for these allowances. Why not in primary schools? – Yours, etc,

BERNADETTE O’DONNELL,
