Sir, – Conor Pope is right on the money in his piece about good and bad value for tourists in Ireland (“Has Ireland become a tourist ‘rip-off’ location?”, Opinion & Analysis, August 8th). Last week my wife and I decided on a few days in Sligo, in a good hotel outside the town. After a long but pleasant drive, we sat outside the hotel in a lovely patio area, and ordered two glasses of white wine. Price? €21.50. Next time we’ll bring our own. – Yours, etc,
JOE McMINN,
Belfast.
