Sir, – I wish to propose a solution to the pending Minister of Finance impasse. The Tánaiste believes that Paschal Donohoe must remain as Minister of Finance during the upcoming Cabinet reshuffle in December, while the Taoiseach believes that the office of Minister of Finance must pass to Fianna Fáil.
In light of the above, and in order to maintain Coalition harmony, I propose that Mr Donohoe retains his current cabinet position but becomes a member of Fianna Fáil for the remaining term of Government. Surely a win-win for Messrs Martin and Varadkar and simply the next logical step in the coalescing of our two Civil War political parties. An Irish solution to an Irish problem. – Yours, etc,
