Sir, - I read in your Commercial Property Supplement that South Anne Street is to be transformed by a £20 million development. Judging by the upbeat tone, the writer is clearly too young to remember that happy hunting ground of my youth, the Crystal Ballroom. There must be many middle-aged men and women who are sad to see it in its present state: that exciting, dimly-lit cavern with its shimmering crystal ball is now just fresh air behind a crumbling facade.
May I suggest that former patrons of the Crystal gather together in South Anne Street one last time - men on one side and women on the other, of course. Then we could all pair off for one last lurch around the street, in memory of youthful pleasures. - Yours, etc.,
Bill Roe, Dublin 6.
