An article in the edition of June 10th, concerning the western rail corridor, said that the number of passengers has fallen short of that forecast in the business case.
However, the business case forecasts were based on 14 trains a day while there are only 10 trains a day currently. The service was described as Ennis-Athenry but these are towns on the route. The service extends from Galway to Limerick.
An obituary of Phyllis Ryan in last Saturday’s edition stated that she was born in 1923. She was born in 1920 and was therefore in her 91st year. Also, the obituary erred in stating that she had two children with her late husband Sean Colleary.
An article in last Friday’s edition on plans to re-energise the midlands economy misnamed the chief executive of Bord na Móna. He is Gabriel D’Arcy.
A photograph of last year’s “Dip in the Nip” in Sligo, published in last Monday’s edition, carried a caption which incorrectly stated that the swim took place last Sunday. The photograph was to publicise this year’s swim, again in aid of cancer research, which will take place on Saturday June 25th. Details at dipinthenip.eu
A photograph in yesterday’s edition of Senator David Norris at a meeting of Wexford County Council carried an incorrect caption. Tony Larkin (Director of Services) and Eddie Breen (County Manager) are employees of Wexford County Council and not Carlow County Council as stated.
