An article in the editions of Thursday, March 5th, headed "Constant controversy on Lowry's handling of CIE" stated, inter alia, that Mr Michael Lowry, then (in April 1995) minister for transport, energy and communications, had indicated to Mr Dermot O'Leary, then chairman of CIE, that he intended to appoint an executive chairman of the company. Mr O'Leary, the article stated, was asked to resign and agreed to do this. Mr O'Leary has informed The Irish Times that he was not asked to resign and that he did not resign and, further, that the matter is the subject of an imminent case in the High Court.
A list of candidates in the Dublin North by-election published in Thursday's editions included Noel O'Neill as an Independent. In fact he is running for the Natural Law Party.
The word "Irish" was omitted from the second sentence of the second paragraph of a letter on racism in Ireland from Crea Ryder published in yesterday's editions. The sentence should have read "There are 7,000 Irish people in one city, Munich, in Germany".
