Gardai in Galway have identified two young boys as being responsible for a fire which broke out in Knocknacarra Catholic church at the weekend. The boys, aged seven and eight, are reported to have caused damage in the Church of St John the Apostle, before setting some paper and candles alight. The church organ was knocked over and items from the altar were strewn about. The alert was raised by a local man who heard the smoke alarm, and Galway Fire Brigade extinguished the blaze.
