WTO ministers have agreed to launch a new round of multilateral trade liberalisation talks, Indian Commerce Minister Murasoli Maran said.
Mr Maran was speaking as World Trade Organization ministers were gathering in a plenary session to give formal backing to a call for a three-year cycle of talks aimed at lowering trade barriers worldwide.
A few countries, led by India, had earlier lodged last-minute objections to the deal that negotiators were labouring furiously to resolve.
