Six people, including suspect, dead following shooting in Plymouth

Not terrorism related and they are not looking for any other suspect, police say

Six people, including the suspect, have died of gunshot wounds in a firearms incident in Keyham, Plymouth, in England, Devon and Cornwall police have said.

Officers found two women and two men dead at the scene after they were called to a serious firearms incident in Biddick Drive, in the Keyham area of Plymouth, at about 6.10pm on Thursday, the police said.

A further man, believed to be the offender, was also dead at the scene, and all are believed to have died from gunshot wounds, the force said.

Another woman was treated at the scene for gunshot wounds, but died a short time later in hospital.

Devon and Cornwall police said it was not a terrorism related incident, and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with it.

Witnesses

Witnesses described hearing gunshots on Thursday evening, with one saying she saw a man “randomly” start shooting at people in the Keyham area of the city.

One witness, who lives near Biddick Drive and gave her name as Sharron, told the BBC: “Firstly, there was shouting, followed by gunshots – three, possibly four to begin with.

“This was when the shooter kicked in the door of a house and randomly started shooting... he ran from the house shooting as he ran and proceeded to shoot at a few people in the Linear Park up from the drive.”

Robert Pinkerton told the BBC he had “walked around the corner” and “bumped into a bloke with a shotgun”.

Earlier on Thusday evening police appealed to the public “not to speculate or share pictures of the scene on social media or anywhere else”. – PA
