Women's marathon to disrupt Dublin traffic

There will be major traffic disruption in Dublin city centre today because of the annual women's mini-marathon.

There will be major traffic disruption in Dublin city centre today because of the annual women's mini-marathon.

The marathon is the biggest women's athletic event of its kind in the State, and is expected to attract more than 30,000 runners, including Sonia O'Sullivan.

The marathon begins in Fitzwilliam Square at 3 p.m. Parking restrictions will be in place along the route, beginning at 6 a.m.

The following roads will be closed: Pembroke Street from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.; St Stephen's Green South from 6 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.; St Stephen's Green East from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.; St Stephen's Green West from 1 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.; St Stephen's Green North from 1 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.; Upper Fitzwilliam Street from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.; Fitzwilliam Place from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.; Merrion Square East from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.; Merrion Street from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.; Lower Leeson Street from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
