A woman is understood to be in serious condition in hospital this evening after she was struck by a Luas travelling inbound on the red line at the platform at the Blackhorse tram stop in Dublin.
The woman, who is in her thirties, was struck by the tram at about 8.10pm. She was removed to St James's Hospital, where her condition is understood to be serious.
A spokeswoman for Veolia Transport, the company which operates the Luas, said there is currently no service between Red Cow and Heuston.
The following stops are not currently in service but tickets are valid on Dublin Bus for the duration of the disruption: Kylmore, Bluebell, Blackhorse, Drimnagh, Goldenbridge, Suir Road, Rialto, Fatima, James's.
The spokeswoman said the company would be carrying out an investigation of the incident and had contacted the Railway Safety Commission and Rail Accident Investigative unit as well as gardaí.
