A woman in her 60s appeared before Longford District Court today over the murder of a man in Co Westmeath 22 years ago.
Brian McGrath (43) disappeared from his home in spring 1987. Bones were found buried in a field near his home in at Coole six years later.
Following DNA analysis of the bones, which were exhumed from Whitehall Cemetery in May last year, they were identified as those of Mr McGrath.
Vera McGrath (60) was today charged with murdering Mr McGrath on a date between March 16th, 1987 and April 18th, 1987. Judge John Neilan remanded her in custody for one week at today's sitting.
The court was told the accused did not reply after caution and that there was no application made for legal aid nor requests for medical or psychiatric reports to be carried out.
Colin Pinder (46), Lorne Street, Liverpool, England is on bail having been previously charged with Mr McGrath’s murder between March 16th, 1987, and April 4th, 1987.
Mr Pinder was arrested and charged at Dublin airport on February 5th when he returned from England. He is on continuing bail to appear before Mullingar District Court on June 18th.
