A woman in her mid-30s was killed when her car went out of control and hit a stone wall in Co Kildare early yesterday morning. The accident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. at Donadea, Naas.

Elsewhere, a 54-year-old Englishman has become the 11th person to die on Limerick roads so far this year.

The father of four was named as Mr Donald Rogers from Wheatley in Oxford.

He was driving along the main Limerick to Shannon dual-carriageway at Meelick when he was in an accident with another car travelling in the same direction just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

He was taken to the MidWestern Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. It is not known if the dead man was holidaying or on business.

The Garda has named a man who died in an accident at a Carlow town industrial estate on Tuesday. The victim was Mr Michael Noctor (47), a single man, from Graiguecullen, Carlow.
