A female pedestrian has died following a Co Galway road incident last night.
The woman in her 40s was struck by a car on the R336 at Baile na hAbhann at about 6pm. She was taken to University College Hospital Galway where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
The road was closed for forensic examination, and gardaí from Carraroe, Co Galway, are investigating.

Elsewhere, gardaí in Dublin have appealed for witnesses after a man was struck by a lorry in Clontarf yesterday.
The incident happened at Griffith Avenue between the junction of Malahide Road and Philipsburgh Avenue at around midday..
The man, believed to be in his 70s, was taken to Beaumont hospital.
