A family has today collected the €15 million Euromillions jackpot won earlier this month.

The National Lottery said that "a family group of two" collected the winnings from the company's offices in Dublin.

The winning €9 quick pick ticket for the July 4th lottery draw was bought in The Abbey Stores, Carrickbeg, Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary. But nobody had claimed the prize, the second time that the Euromillions lottery jackpot has been won in Ireland.

The July Euromillions jackpot came less than a week after a 16-person syndicate claimed almost €19 million - Ireland’s largest jackpot in the National Lottery's 20-year history.

The syndicate comprised 15 men from the concrete and quarry plant in Bennekerry, Co Carlow, and a former female employee.

Limerick woman Dolores McNamara remains the country’s biggest lottery winner, however, after scooping €115 million in the Euromillions in 2005.
