Manufacturing prices increased by 0.1 per cent in August compared to a decrease of 1 per cent for same month last year, according to the latest Central Statistics Office figures.
As a result, the annual percentage change showed an increase of 0.9 per cent in August, which compares to a decrease of 0.2 per cent in July.
In the month, the index for export sales increased by 0.1 per cent, while the index for home sales increased by 0.2 per cent.
In the year there was an increase in export sales of 0.6 per cent and an increase in home sales of 1.8 per cent.
Contributing to the annual change were increases in pharmaceuticals and other chemical products (up 6.8 per cent), meat products (up 10.5 per cent) and mining and quarrying (up 34.9 per cent).
There was a fall in basic chemicals ( down 1 per cent) and office machinery and computers (down 7.5 per cent).
