Dublin

Dublin

The first phase of the new Balbriggan bypass is open to traffic today, along with the Five Roads interchange south of the town.

There will be serious delays between 9.30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Strand Road and Beach Road in Sandymount. Strand Road is closed to inbound traffic at these times. There will also be severe delays on Drumcondra Road outbound.

Roadworks continue between the Goat Grill and Main Street in Dundrum.

There are roadworks between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the Bray Road outbound at the Belfield flyover. There are also roadworks on the Stillorgan Road.

There are roadworks on Botanic Road outbound, Botanic Avenue, Finglas Main Street at the Church Street end and Finglas Road from Hart's Corner. The green route from the new roundabout at Taylors Lane to the Templeroan roundabout is now open.

Work continues on a bus corridor between Amiens Street and Fairview. Ducting work is taking place on Sandyford Road and Killiney Hill Road.

Cork

Major resurfacing work has started on Bishopstown Road. The road is closed outbound from Wilton roundabout. Access will be via Sarsfield Road and South Ring Road. There are temporary traffic lights on the Cork-Limerick Road (N20) at Mallow due to the construction of a new roundabout at the junction between the N20 and Beecher Street. There are roadworks on Watercourse Road near Maddens Buildings.

Limerick

Roadworks continue on the Limerick-Dublin Road (N7) from Sallymount to Daly's Cross. There are also roadworks at Hassetts Cross, with a diversion in place. The road surface is poor and potholed and extra care is needed.

Waterford

Temporary traffic lights will be in place from 7.45 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the main Dungarvan Road five miles east of the town. Roadworks continue at Farran Park and at Michael Street, which is closed to traffic.

Meath

There are extensive roadworks on the Navan Road (N3) one mile south of Dunshaughlin.

Louth

Roadworks for the next three weeks on the N2 north of Ardee will cause long delays.

Galway

Building work at the university has closed the entrance on the Newcastle Road.. Monaghan

Work is taking place on the N2 at Broomfield/Tullyvaragh, four miles north of Carrickmacross, for the next six weeks.

Kerry

There are roadworks in Castleisland for the next four months.

Rail Information

Passengers on the 8 a.m. Dublin-Sligo train will take a bus from Boyle. Passengers on the 1.25 p.m. from Sligo will travel by bus to Boyle; the 12.10 p.m. Limerick-Ennis and the 1.50 p.m. Ennis-Limerick service will be by bus. On Sunday, there will be bus transfers on the Dublin-Rosslare line.

Road Deaths

The provisional figure for the number of people who died on the roads in the seven days up to midnight on Wednesday was seven. In September, 44 people were killed and the total for the year to date is 340.
