The novelty of having two Munster teams in the All-Ireland hurling final on Sunday will put more pressure on the main roads from the province to Dublin.
Delays are expected on the N7 at Kildare town and on the outskirts of Dublin, and on the N4 at Enfield and Lucan. The Garda has advised Tipperary supporters to take the Abbeyleix road and travel to Dublin through Athy. Clare fans should go through Gort, Ballinasloe and continue along the N4 to Dublin.
Diversions and traffic restrictions will operate around Croke Park in the afternoon and regular road users should avoid the area.
Iarnrod Eireann has put on 11 extra trains on Sunday for fans from Clare and Tipperary. Special trains will also run from Cork and Kilkenny for hurling aficionados. Details are available from local stations.
Elsewhere in Dublin, repairs to a footbridge have reduced traffic to a single lane on the Tallaght by-pass near the Square.
Roadworks will close the canal bridge on Killeen Road while diversions will operate at Harold's Cross Road in Kimmage.
All westbound traffic on the Lucan bypass is subject to a contraflow system between the Deadman's Inn and Fonthill junctions. A 40 m.p.h. speed limit is in place between Newcastle Road and the M50 interchange. ais works on St James's Street may cause delays at the junction of Echlin Street.
In Cork, Maylor Street and Caroline Street will remain closed until the end of the month for pavement works and service renewals. A section of the Killumney/ Crossbarry Road will be closed from south of Begleys Forge to the crossroads at Belrose.
The Mallow to Mitchelstown Road will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day for roadworks. In Laois, temporary lights are in operation on the N80 at Ballickmoyler.
In Limerick, the Newport Road at Bunkey Bridge is closed from Shower Cross to Bunkey Cross with diversions via Birdhill. Watermains works are taking place on the Limerick to Foynes Road at Askeaton. In Tipperary, roadworks on the N8 at the Turnpike junction for Thurles are causing delays. The N74 to Cashel is closed at Kilfeacle between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. for about two weeks.
