FEELING stiff after an over zealous bout of spring cleaning, house painting or mad digging in the garden? Tired? Sore? Unforgivably grumpy?

If you were to just look at a Cozy Cushion you'd think, oh, what a weird draught excluder. But if someone were to hand you a warmed cushion, your would immediately put it around your neck or upon your arthritic joint, or crampy waist or tennis elbow, and you would smile. It's the sort of invention which almost needs to be formally introduced; but once you've encountered one, you'll want to spend time with it.

Handmade in Ireland by Esther Maguire, initially from her kitchen table in Killiney, Co Dublin, and her partner Leslie Coffey, they are stuffed with a combination of lavender and flax seed and you heat them for about two minutes in a microwave for aromatic heat therapy. They smell better than hot water bottles to be sure and also do not go cold in the bed they merely become an additional pillow.

They're available almost nationwide now, for about £950 in three different shapes. Ask at your local chemist, but if you can't find one, ring Esther Maguire at 01-2350930.
