The war between Ethiopia and Eritrea began two years ago on May 12th, 1998, with Eritrean troops moving into territory claimed by Ethiopia.
The conflict has claimed the lives of tens of thousands of soldiers and displaced 600,000 people. With 300,000 troops deployed by each country along the border, there are now rumblings of fresh hostilities.
Many say the conflict has dragged on because of the personal pride of the two leaders, President Isaias Afeworki of Eritrea and the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Mr Meles Zenawi.
