Manchester United flew to Portugal today for their Champions League clash against Boavista tomorrow night but will be missing three key players through injury.
United travelled without their captain Roy Keane, prolific Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy and Argentina international Juan Sebastian Veron.
The English champions and current Premiership leaders have already qualified for the last eight but need to win tomorrow to make sure of winning Group A and avoiding a quarter-final tie against Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Keane is sidelined with a hip injury and leading goalscorer van Nistelrooy has a groin problem, but Veron's injury appears to be the biggest concern.
The former Lazio midfielder was kicked on his heel during last Wednesday's match against Bayern Munich and missed Saturday's 5-3 Premiership win over West Ham.
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson is worried Veron may have broken a bone in his foot and is sending him for a scan.
"Seba got a knock on the heel in the game against Bayern last week," he told the club's official website.
"It's pretty delicate so we are sending him for a scan and hopefully there is nothing broken."
"Roy Keane has got a hip injury, which has been bothering him for a few days.
"He got through the two matches against Boavista and West Ham, but we've decided to leave him behind.
"Ruud van Nistelrooy has got a groin injury and Ronny Johnsen may be doubtful, but he's travelled." -AFP
