The chief executive officer of the WTA Tour, Bart McGuire, confirmed today that Venus Williams was facing a commission of enquiry into her no-show at the season-ending WTA Tour Championships in Munich.
Venus originally said she would attend but pulled out with the wrist injury which kept her out of Linz last week.
As she was qualified to play Munich the WTA rules stipulate that medical and legal officials must check on the current state of Williams' fitness.
Should the two doctors, and one lawyer and the medical commission they choose to conduct the investigation decide that she could have played, the star could face the withholding of bonus payments to the tune of around 140,000 dollars.
