US may give Russia food

Washington - The United States is prepared to offer Russia 3.1 million metric tons of wheat and other commodities to help ease a looming food supply crisis, a senior US official said yesterday. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the amount included 1.5 million metric tons of wheat worth $200 million. The rest is a mix of other commodities.
