A US healthcare company has announced it is to set up its European headquarters in Ireland, creating 75 jobs in Clondalkin, Dublin.

Air Enterprises specialises in the design and manufacture of customised air-handling systems for the healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotech and electronics industries.

The company will invest about €5 million over the next four years to establish itself in the European market. Its Dublin base will house its sales, marketing and administrative functions.

The company has also announced a strategic manufacturing partnership with Cork-based manufacturer, Edpac International, which will potentially create further manufacturing jobs.

Mr Edward Gaffney Jr, managing director, Air Enterprises Europe, said: "As an Irish-American, it was also my father's wish to invest in Ireland and I am very proud to be seeing this project through, on his behalf".

The company has received its first order in the Irish market from Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children. The hospital has purchased a custom-built, air-handling unit for its new €30 million operating theatre suite, which is being built.
