A US father of nine who owes child support has been banned from having more children unless he proves he will support all his offspring.
David Oakley says Wisconsin Supreme Court overlooked significant facts in his case when it upheld a ruling in Manitowoc County.
The Supreme Court has now refused to reconsider its decision.
Oakley was sentenced to three years in prison on one count of failing to pay &163;16,000 in child support.
The judge delayed an eight-year prison sentence on two other counts of failing to pay child support, in favour of five years' probation.
The judge said Oakley would go to prison if he fathered any more children while on probation and refused to pay child support.
Oakley claimed the court had not considered the payments he made prior to his probation, which he said had amounted to 70 per cent of what he owed.
He has four sons and five daughters, aged three to 16, born to four women.
