The Ulster Unionists declared their support yesterday for an attempt to defeat the British government over a key part of its budget, which could precipitate a confidence vote, reports Rachel Borrill from London.
At a joint press conference with the Scottish and Welsh nationalists, the Ulster Unionist leader, Mr David Trimble, said he was confident the government could be defeated on the plan to double the airport tax if the Labour Party joined the campaign.
The Liberal Democrats, the DUP and SDLP are expected to join the campaign.
