A full forensic examination is taking place this morning at the scene of a fatal Co Cork car crash in which two young men lost their lives.

The incident happened last night on a back-road between Fermoy and Middleton at Strawhall, around 9pm.

Two men were killed and three others taken to hospital when a car hit a wall.

The other passengers were taken to Cork University Hospital (CUH).

Gardaí later named the victims as 19-year-old James Sexton and 22-year-old Michael Murphy, both from Castlelyons near Fermoy.

The road is expected to remain closed for some time.
