Two men were jailed by the Special Criminal Court yesterday for an attempted robbery intended to raise funds for the Continuity IRA.

Edward Heeney (24), of Bredin Street, Drogheda, was jailed for eight years for possession of a sawn-off shotgun with intent to commit a robbery at Hacketts bookmakers, Bluebell, Dublin, on September 21st last year. Sean Connolly (22), of Bernard Curtis House, Bluebell, was jailed for four years on arms charges.
