Two held over €1m Dublin drug seizure

A man and woman have been arrested over a €1million drug seizure in Dublin.

A man and woman have been arrested over a €1million drug seizure in Dublin.

Members of the Garda National Drugs Unit stopped and searched a man in Finglas and five kilograms of a substance which is believed to be heroin was seized.

He was arrested and is currently detained at Finglas Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.

In a follow up search a location in the south inner city was searched and a female was arrested and she also detained under the same Act at Kevin Street Garda station.

Meanwhile last night customs officers at Dublin Airport seized over 18 kilograms of cannabis.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of €216,000, were discovered when a South African woman (41) was stopped and her baggage searched.

The drugs were found concealed in a suitcase.

The woman, who had travelled to Dublin from Johannesburg via Zurich, appeared in court this morning where she was remanded in custody for one week.
