A pensioner died following a fire in his home, gardai said yesterday. Mr John McGeever, of Derryconnor, Gortahork, west Donegal, would have been 100 in July. A Garda spokesman said they were treating the blaze as accidental.
Meanwhile, a man from Raphoe, Co Donegal, died in Letterkenny General Hospital from injuries he received after he fell from a horse on Sunday. Mr Godfrey McCrabb (58), from Brayhead, was taking part in a riding event at Kilmacrennan when the accident happened.
